Chapter Two of the Echo Inc. Investigations is out!
Since I was like 16 I've considered myself a Bimbo. I never felt like it was a world that I could participate in. When I was in the navy my nickname was Rock, because I was as “dumb as a box of rocks but only one”. I found this enduring and embraced it and was the closest I had ever been to letting my bimbo out.
In recent years, the word "bimbo" is being redefined to fit a new brand of people who are unapologetically themselves and who also identify as feminists. They are body positive, gender inclusive, and mental health focused. I had found my people at last.
We are smart, confident, and beautiful, but they refuse to conform to societal standards of what it means to be a "lady." They embrace their sexuality and use it as a tool to dismantle the patriarchy.
We’re often criticized for our appearance and behavior. We are seen as shallow and lacking in substance. However, that's just not the case. We are outspoken advocates for social justice and gender equality. W use our platforms to spread awareness about important issues and to encourage others to use their voices to effect change.
We are not afraid to be ourselves. We completely reject the idea that femininity and intelligence are mutually exclusive. W don't feel the need to hide our intelligence or downplay our accomplishments to make others feel comfortable. Often times shown in the form of sarcasm by downplaying intelligence to an obviously obtuse level. Usually in response to patriarchal bs.
We are not just pretty faces (we definitely are that though). Intelligent, confident, and unapologetically ourselves. We use our platforms to make a difference and to challenge the status quo. So, celebrate us into the world.
